Characteristics and differences of extruded and cast acrylic bath

Choosing a bath of acrylic, the buyer, as a rule, does not even imagine what this material is, and what should be paid to. Let us dwell on the types of acrylic, learn to distinguish them visually and find out the features of manufacture. There are two types of acrylic – extruded and cast.

In the production of baths, a reinforcing layer consisting of epoxy resin and fiberglass is used from the first type. At the cost of this species is cheaper and does not keep its shape so well. Almost the entire thickness of the bath is a polymer – acrylenetributadianstyrol, which has significant drawbacks – its structure is porous and rough, the density is low, greater absorption of moisture. The thickness of the acrylic layer in such a bath reaches only 5-10%. Quite quickly, such baths will lose their appearance due to chips and microcracks of the surface. And their service life is usually not long – about three years.

The second type is a 100% uniform cast acrylic made of polymethyl methasrylate. The bath from this polymer is characterized by high strength, better wear resistance, good appearance and maintainability. They usually serve up to ten years.
